BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) Budget cuts are getting deeper for several local libraries which work together and some of the services they provide countywide could get the ax.

The Jefferson County Commission has cut the cooperative library system's budget by 77 percent over the past two years.

They are raising money to counter the cuts.

The library cooperative's delivery service transports four million books between branches every year, but the trucks could stop suddenly if the money isn't there.

The cooperative also provides internet access at each library.

They tell us that several research databases could also be on the chopping block if enough money isn't raised.
