A once thought dead bingo bill has new life in what the bill's author calls a shorter, simpler form.

In a surprise move Tuesday afternoon, Senator Roger Bedford re-introduced Senate Bill 330.  He then substituted to new version.  Senate Republicans tried to defeat the measure but to no avail, it passed 21 votes to 13.

The bill now goes to the House for passage there.  There are still three weeks left in the session, and bingo supporters say they'll have plenty of time to get it passed so Alabama residents will get the chance to vote on it in November.

I like to play bingo myself. But it really causes a lot of problems in the people u see there there not paing there bills all trere money goes toward winning some of there money back to pay there bills and it never happens. people on a goverment check that the tax payers pay spending there whole check there then begging for help from local services to pay there bills and im not saying its everyone on a gov check i really no people need and deserve there checks im just talking about the ones i know personaly that ive met at these places. if the people that are going to these places really look around they wouldn't want this in there own back yard. i relize it really has a lot of good jobs but it would be better if would could just come up with something else for these jobs if something as simple as bingo did it lets try to come up with that dont put the lower class on in to bankrupcy. or at least take the money from it and try to teach people to be responsible about it. this is only my opinion if it does pass maby everything will work out
