They've held meetings statewide to garner support and generate ideas to save the Alabama PACT program. Now as the state PACT board prepares to meet in Montgomery on Wednesday, they're again coming together.
"the groups are getting bigger and bigger, its tough because it's in the middle of the week during the middle of the day for people to take off work but you know something's important, you got to do what you've got to do,” says Tim Gray, a member of Save Alabama PACT. He is hoping to see his two contracts fulfilled.
"They know we're serious about it we just want to keep it in their ear and you know it's like the squeaky wheel gets grease, we're trying to keep squeaking at them," explains Gray.
Save Alabama PACT hopes to see more funds released so contract holders with students headed to college in the near future do not have to worry.
Like Caleb, who is heading to the University of Alabama next fall. Despite his family purchasing his PACT in 1992, the program doesn't have money being released past spring 2010 to pay for the contracts.
"It’s something else that adds to the thoughts in the back of your mind about college and its like not only am I worrying about this, my parents are worrying about this, my parents are having to worry about paying for this rather than it's just all taken care of," says Caleb.
