(WIAT)- According to a Peruvian magazine, Joran van der Sloot has stabbed three people while in prison in Peru awaiting trial for the murder of Stephany Flores. The magazine, called Panorama, goes on to state that one of the three stabbing victims required emergency care and that these incidents have caused prison officials to put van der Sloot in solitary confinement. The magazine also claims that van der Sloot is a heavy drug user.
This report comes after a recent accusation made by a Dutch minister that van der Sloot was receiving preferential treatment while in prison.
Van der Sloot is facing murder charges in the death last year of 21 year old student Stephany Flores. Her body was found in van der Sloot's Lima hotel room. He's reportedly told Peruvian authorities he killed Flores in a fit of rage when she found material about Natalee Holloway on his laptop computer.
Holloway is the Mountain Brook teen who disappeared on a graduation trip to Aruba in 2005. She was last seen leaving an Oranjestad nightclub with van der Sloot and two of his friends. He is still the prime suspect in her disappearance but had never been charged by Aruban authorities.
Other than his international notoriety from the Holloway case, there's another huge difference between van der Sloot and more than 100 other Dutch citizens in Peruvian prisoners. All of the other Dutch nationals were arrested on drug charges.
