BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) If it feels like you're spending more and more at the grocery store, it's not your imagination. The cost of feeding your family has gone up considerably.

The world bank says globally, food prices jumped 29 percent in the last year. The biggest pinch is being felt by those in developing countries, who spend up to half their income on food.

Higher prices for corn, wheat and oil pushed 44 million people into extreme poverty and it's not over.   Food prices are expected to continue to rise.

Severe winter weather and bans on certain exports are the main reasons.

I heard about a new site at Church. mygroceryspy dot com It compares prices at the top stores here in Atlanta. From what I’ve read, it updates twice a week and shows where the lowest prices are on a few hundred items. It helps me build a menu around the lowest prices. You can print out your shopping list or have it sent to your phone. (I’m not savvy enough for that though).
