ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) — Anniston police say there is no evidence that bullying caused the suicide of a 12-year-old boy.

Relatives say Trey Figures killed himself at home last month after facing bullies at Anniston Middle School for more than a year.

But Police Chief John Dryden said Thursday said there was no evidence that bullying led the boy to take his own life. He declined comment on what may have happened.

Dryden says city officials could once again station police inside schools, a practice that ended five years ago because of personnel shortages. But he says school officials aren't responsible for the child's death.
