This is the response you will get from Bob Riley: In 1969,under Governor Albert Brewer,Section 11-51-206 of the Code of Alabama was enacted which gave cities authority to extend their police jurisdictions out 1.5 miles from their city limits,as long as the city provides services in that area and does not cross into another city jurisdiction. When a city extends out,it may also levy certain taxes in that area, not to exceed .5 of the amount of taxes levied against similar businesses in the city limits. While all taxes cannot be extended, sales tax can be extended into a police jurisdiction. Yes we do need to create a government department for Forestdale,so the people of Forestdale which far out number the population of Adamsvbille can in turn create our own police force to collect taxes from Adamsville. The road explaination was just a copout to make the people of Forestdale think Adamsville was just in their imposed tax. Lets get started soon for all the legal mumbo jumbo for what it takes to have a Mayor and police force for Forestdale. Meanwhile the Mayor of Adamsville can figure out how she will pay for the taxes imposed by Forestdale.

What people may not realize is, Minor Parkway runs from Hwy 269 outside of Ensley to Adamsville, while both Union Grove and Hazelwood Roads are well within Adamsville's city limits -- NOT ONE of these road have anything to do with Forestdale directly. So, why should I have to pay extra for my groceries or other essentials (which I will since it's only reasonable it that if businesses have to pay more in taxes, those businesses have to charge the consumer more) but if I my street isn't going to be maintained by Adamsville, and considering now that the county has laid off so many people, what makes Mayor Palmer think ANYONE is going to see her point of view? Again, this entire mess needs to be addressed not only by the businesses it affects, but by the people of Forestdale as well. Here's a thought; since the Satellite Court Building on Hwy 78 isn't being used, why don't the people of Forestdale vote in our own 'M-A-Y-O-R' along with a few other %&@*'s just for good measure, set up our own city government in that building, and just tax whomever we please for whatever reason we want. I mean, we've had to fight the County over a "non-user sewer tax", we're still trying to figure out if we'll even have a county to live in over the next few months, and before long we'll probably have Larry La-La breathing down our necks after he's had another one of his visions. So, the way I see it we can't do any worse with our own city government than we've already done with everyone else's, only then we'd at least have a chance to give 'em the boot if they screwed up....

Amen! I am fortunate NOT to live as close as you to the theiving town of Adamsville. I was not surprised by your story of the Adamsville police trying to wiggle out of their professional duties. The Queen of Adamsville has step into high waters and soon the Queen and the rest of her reign will be going through the same thing B'ham is with the job tax situation.Adamsville will be paying for lawyers for years.Hope the residence of Adamsville enjoy their downward spiral of Adamsville tax revenue going down the drain.Miss Mayor of course will be going to court for decades. That will give her something to do after she is voted out. I was just wondering since Forestdale does not get to vote on this so-called mayor,,does the people of Adamsville get to vote? The Queen and all with her taxation without representation, just guessed she tooked the throne.

Forget about a lawyer gaining national attention, the businesses and subsequent poeple of Forestdale that this affects have the right to file suit on their own! Adamsville's mayor should take a very close look at how previous attemts by other municipalities at pulling a stunt, and that's exactly what this is A STUNT, but where other municipalities have attempted this, the end result cost them far more than what they anticipated. I live exactly one block outside of the posted Adamsville City Limit, however when my residence was burglarized the sheriff's department had to respond, and where there was an accident not even a half block from from the Adamsville City Limit, I stopped a Adamsville patrol car for assistance and the officer very politely explained that it was out of his jurisdiction -- what happened to the concept of Mutual Assistance then? People WAKE UP, it's time for our voices and opinions to be respected in government, and where city and county officials alike seem to feel it's within their right to do whatever they please when it comes to OUR money, those officials need to be reminded that their is a process called impeachment where they can be given the boot. Everyone complains about crime, but the worse crimes of all are the abuse of public trust, misuse of public funds, and people seeming to feel that they can do nothing to bring a stop to whatever some official decides on. If we wait for the Mayor of Adamsville to drop the ball, the game will already be too far behind to catch up; just look at the situation the county is in....

Ishmael,,I aggre with you completely, but what you don't realize is not only will this new ruler of Adamsville collect taxes from another town,,,her patrol cars do not have to patrol at all.The only reason why her patrol cars would go to Forestdale ,,would be to collect even more revenue from unsuspecting victims going through their speed traps. The Grinch of Adamsville could care less if a store or bank gets robbed and one or more of it's Forestdale residents get their head blown off. There will be another one of over 10 thousand Forestdale residents that would be walking in that store's doorway after they clean up the blood. Sheriff Hale has got enough worries now just trying to keep his deputies paid each week. We all know how efficient the Adamsville police are. If we had a donut shop locally,we would see missing reports of Adamsville police officers broadcast on America's Most Wanted every night. LOL LOL LOL On a curious note,I was told that the Queen,,whoops,Mayor of Adamsville has just recently purchased a very nice 4200 sq.ft.lake cabin. She had recently came into some unexpected revenue,,whoops, slipped again,,I mean she came into some money. Maddoff,Scrushy,Siegelman etc Who is next on this list?

Some lawyer who needs to get a national status needs to take advantage of this oportunity and sue Adamsville and it's Mayor for Taxation without representation. A government body that taxes an outside body without any kind of service from them or a right to vote for any of that outsider government body representatives has got to be illegal in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. What was the revolutionary war about? Perfect timing MAYOR of ADAMSVILLE for showing what the 4th of July is all about. Or should we call her Queen of the country of Adamsville? Next in the news? Adamsville tea truck exploded in Forestdale Queen of Adamsville sends Adamsville patrol units to Forestdale to set up speed traps to retailiate against Forestdale. Adamsville suffers business revenues, due to less patrons purchasing in Forestdale and Adamsville. Graysville is next on Queen of Adamsville list of illegal grab of outside revenue.

Just another shameful money grab. The state law doesn't REQUIRE that Adamsville extend thei8r jurisdiction. They're doing just for the money. The Jefferson county sheriff's department serves Forrestdale just fine. The county should pull out of Forrestdale and not answer another call within a mile and a half of Adamsville in any direction. The county would save money and Adamsville police will have to do somethong besides cruise the shopping center parking lots. I used to do most of my shopping in Adamsville and gladly paid their taxes. Now that they've screwed the poor people of Forrestdale I'll shop in Fultondale and Gardendale. Money isn't the issue, I just want to give those gutless leeches another penny of mine. Ishmael
