A man is in critical condition after being caught in what investigators believe was a meth lab explosion.

35-year-old Jeremy Hall was airlifted to the UAB burn center.  Emergency workers responded to the explosion and the resulting fire early Tuesday morning at 735 Northwest 2nd Street in Carbon Hill.

Agents with the Walker County drug unit say several working "shake and bake" labs were found in the rubble of the fire.

But, that's not the worst of it.  Drug agent Adam Hadder says there were also four children living inside the home as well.

At this time, only one person has been charged in the case, Hall's wife Christy.  Hadder says she's in jail at Carbon Hill on child endangerment.  But he says once she's released she'll be charged by the county with manufacturing a controlled substance.

Hadder also says, if Hall survives, he'll be charged as well.  He was taken to the burn unit at University Hospital in critical condition.
