New details have surfaced on the disappearance and death of a prominent Mountain Brook attorney.

63-year-old Major Bashinsky’s body turned up in a golf course lake earlier this week. Now we've learned investigators recovered a new piece of evidence: a message in a bottle tied to his body.

However, Mountain Brook Police will not say just what that message says.

Now his wife is waiting for answers.

"I’ve tried to piece things together and I don't know. And at this point, I’ve heard several rumors and speculation and I don't know. So at this point, all I want is fact and I want the evidence,” said Leslie Bashinsky, Major Bashinsky’s wife.

Another update with this case...you may recall the letter that was found in Bashinsky's home and his car---the one taped to the bag of Golden Flake potato chips.

Police say that wasn't the first time someone got the letter. Apparently, other folks did, but just didn't report it.  So, at this point, they're unsure if it's even associated with his death.

As for the cause of death, the coroner refused to comment on specifics.  But, he did say they may know as early as Monday.

PRESS STATEMENT FROM GOLDEN ENTERPRISES RELEASED SHORTLY AFTER 6:15 WEDNESDAY: The Golden Flake family is saddened by the tragic news of Major Bashinsky’s death and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Major was the younger son of the late Sloan Y. Bashinsky, Sr., who was the Chairman and CEO of our company for over 50 years. “We offer our prayers and sympathy to Major’s family on their loss,” said Mark McCutcheon, President and CEO of Golden Enterprises, the parent company of Golden Flake Snack Foods.
