BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- Trips to the grocery store can be a hassle. Aisle after aisle with one question in your mind: what can I make for dinner? Kristi Grime has a solution.
The website Food on the Table allows shoppers to type in their zip codes, and it locates sales going on in their local grocery stores. It will even compile recipes based on those sales.
"I'm not like the TLC extreme coupon mom," Kristi says. "I don't have 30 hours a week to do that, but what I can do is really save money and help my family at the same time by having healthy meals."
Kristi says the smartphone application is most convenient. You can take your grocery list with you.
If your children don't like a certain food, Kristi has an answer to that, too.
"It provides an outlet for recipes that you use all the time," she says. "You know, every family has five or ten that they just want to get out of."
The best part for Kristi is that the website and app are free. She says it makes those grocery store aisles a lot more pleasant.
