A routine traffic stop in Arab leads deputies to a huge drug bust in Blount County. And when we say huge, we also mean technologically advanced and sophisticated.
More than 150 marijuana plants worth hundreds of thousands of dollars were seized from two homes on property near Oneonta, complete with automatic lighting and watering systems.
Deputies have been busy ever since they were alerted about the operation Tuesday afternoon.
Blount County Sheriff Loyd Arrington said, "Yesterday (Tuesday) we executed a search warrant here and found a sophisticated indoor grow. It went on yesterday evening. We shut it off at dark, posted deputies here who guarded the scene and came back this morning and finished up."
Deputies also seized nearly $400,000 in cash, weapons, ammunition and a meth lab in one of the homes.
The suspect in question remains behind bars in Arab. He has not been formally charged at this hour.
