BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) A Birmingham retirement facility is now equipped with a new security system, but it's not just any system.

It's technology from Israel and the only of it's kind in the southeast.

The new Saferise is used at the borders in Israel and now it's keeping the residents of Faush Metropolitan Manor safe.

Birmingham-based Ion 247 tested the system today.

Saferise works by using facial, voice and behavioral recognition. This system is one of fifteen so far in the US, but developers are working on installing them in cities across the country.

Developers say they think this is the way people will access all kinds of buildings in the 21st century.
