The Lipscomb City Council, mayor and police chief spent some time Saturday behind bars. They were arrested for loving their city and committing other work crimes.
“I am in jail for holding staff meetings on Friday,” says Warren Powe.
“I was arrested for being clumsy in city hall. I have just had a few mishaps so that’s how I got arrested,” says Brenda Renz.
They will remain behind bars until they raise 12 hundred dollars for their volunteer fire department. They are in desperate need of basic items for their fire fighters. Masks, radios, boots and gear are just a few of the items needed.
“All of our fire fighters need new gear. We don’t have radios with our truck to communicate. Especially with some of us not having cell phones, it’s hard to let city hall know that we are in route to a fire,” says Savannah Carroll a Lipscomb volunteer fire fighter.
The community showed up today, they raising more than six thousand dollars, but they still need more. If you would like to donate, checks can be made to the Lipscomb Fire Department.
