"A lot of water," was just one reaction to the overflow at Lake Logan Martin near Pell City.
Normally the highest water level of the lake is reached during the summer months at 465 feet. Friday it reached at least 470 feet. Damon Segars runs the Sundance Marina. He has pictures that show what his place usually looks like. A 300 foot long fishing pier is now five feet under water. And the road that goes around the dry dock is now un-drivable. "And there's a lot of campers, a lot of boats that are in that area. And when the water comes up they all have to be moved."
Ricky Barnes moved his camper from the far end of the road. The lights around the top of his deck are now the only things visible. "I didn't realize, I heard everybody talking about that it would come up like this. But i had never seen it come up this fast."
Most campgrounds around Lake Logan Martin are in the same boat, under water. And more rain is expected this weekend. That has some of the people concerned. "You can see all of the boats in my boat shed, and if it was to make it up to there it would start floating them all in my boat shed," says Segars.
Linda Tinsley says the water probably won't reach her camper, but she has her concerns too. "It's just that knowing the clean up that we have to do afterwards is what makes it really hard," she says.
Alabama Power is releasing water downstream to ease the flooding. But even without more water, it could take at least a week to get the levels back to where they're supposed to be.
