JASPER, Ala. (WIAT) - A Jasper woman is changing physical fitness expectations for the older generation ...showing them even in your eighties, you can stay fit.
Simmons is one of the more than three-hundred seniors who work-out at Solid Image Fitness, but she is a standout. She can list almost 230 pounds, as well as, up to 45 push ups at a time. Something trainer Cynthia Meadows describes as phenominal for her age.
Simmons begins each day with a two mile walk. She also volunteers with three different organizations, including a church youth group.
Along with better mobility and energy, according to her doctor, Simmons' work out regimen has even improved her bone density.
Meadows says other seniors just starting out should simply start walking each day ... taking it slow and steady building muscle.
Simmons is sending out a message to all those baby boomers who are in their sixties ... hope you can keep up.
81 year old Jackie Simmons is a silver fox, but don't let her gray hair fool you. She takes being fit as a senior to a whole new level.
