95.7JAMZ SKOOL of HIP HOP WILL BE HOLDING A FOOD AND BOTTLED WATER DRIVE TODAY STARTING @ 5P AND ALL DAY TOMORROW @ WINN DIXIE ON BESSEMER ROAD.

For those along the 280 corridor:
First Christian Church, located at 4954 Valleydale Road, has been designated as a collection place for water and nonperishable food items, as well as towels and wash cloths. These items will then be transported to those in need.
Someone will there to collect items 8-5 M-F as well as during various hours on Saturday and Sunday.

FRIDAY & SATURDAY
Volunteers will collect donations for the Red Cross tornado relief efforts at the Schaeffer Eye Center Crawfish Boil

Organizers of the Schaeffer Eye Center Crawfish Boil will place donation barrels throughout the festival site to collect donations for the Mid Alabama Region of the American Red Cross for Alabama tornado relief efforts. Community volunteers will also be present to assist with the fundraising efforts. Gates open at 4 p.m. Friday for the weekend event on the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex site.

The American Red Cross provides shelter, food and emotional support to disaster victims. For more information about the Mid Alabama Region of the American Red Cross, visit www.alredcross.org. To donate, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or text “REDCROSS” to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

Donation location in Trussville

• Bring used clothing or new packages of underwear or socks, and/or all sorts of toiletry items to the sign at First Baptist Church Trussville on Friday morning, April 29, at 9 a.m. These items will be taken to the Church of the Highlands, a local church serving as a distribution center. For more info, please call Wanda at 516-9667.
• Bring used clothing or new packages of underwear or socks, all sorts of toiletry items, and other items you can think of than families who have nothing might need to Kuttin’ Up Hair Salon (107 North Chalkville Road) beginning Friday, April 29, through Friday, May 6, for inclusion in truckloads to be taken to the American Red Cross. For more info, please call 661-5887.
• RealtySouth Trussville is collecting bottled water/drinks, diapers, wipes, canned goods, toiletries, etc., for immediate delivery to the west Jefferson and Tuscaloosa areas. One truckload has already been taken, and another will go on Friday. Their lobby is open until 5 p.m. tonight for drop-off and again at 8 a.m. Friday morning.
• Massey Stotser & Nichols is also a drop-off point for collecting items for these victims. Additional drop-off points are also being added. Watch Facebook for further updates. Thank you for your willingness to help!

Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union locations will serve as a drop-off point for bottled water, non-perishable food items, personal hygiene and first aid items and supplies (please see list and locations below).

The donations gathered will be distributed by area churches and organizations currently coordinating relief efforts. At this time, we plan to collect items/ funds through Friday, May 6, 2011.

• Personal Hygiene Items (deodorant, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.)
• Feminine Products
• Diapers and Wipes
• Baby Food
• Band-Aids and First Aid Items (peroxide, antibiotic ointment, etc.)

• Bottled Water
• Non-Perishable Food Items (packaged)
• Juice (individually packaged)
• Paper Towels
• Kleenex
• Toilet Paper

Birmingham Race Course
In efforts to help those devastated by the tornadoes, The Birmingham Race Course and The Mcgregor Greyhound Adoption Center will be hosting a donation drop center from Friday 11AM to close and Saturday 11 Am to close. We will be taking everything from food, water to clothes and things to donate to location animal shelters for the displaced animals.
