JASPER, Ala. (WIAT) - The count-down has begun, we're about thirty hours away from the first-ever Alabama Gives Day.
This is the first year the state is participating in the nation-wide event. Non-profits like Arc of Walker County hope to earn money to pay for services.
Arc assists children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It is one of hundreds of charities you will be able to donate to. Arc says donations are more vital than ever before.
Their state funding has been cut by ten percent this year ... with another 25 percent cut expected in 20-13.
More than 800 non profits groups have signed on to participate in "Alabama Gives Day." The 24-hours of fundraising begins a midnight Thursday morning, and continues until 11-59 that night.
