GULF SHORES, Ala. (WIAT) - It's been a long road since the world first watched those flames off Louisiana's coast.

For three months, millions of gallons of oil spewed into the beautiful Gulf waters. The residents watched the tourist season and their livelihood, go right down the drain.

Just to be safe the beaches are still cleaned every day by machines and ADEM is working on finding a way to clean the bottom of the Gulf, hundreds of feet below the water where tar has sunk to the bottom.
