TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) - A judge has sentenced a former Lincoln
police sergeant to 22 years in prison in the beating death of a
Louisiana man who cursed when officers approached his car outside a
gas station.
Talladega County Circuit Judge Bo Hollingsworth sentenced Kevin
Wade Jung on Wednesday in the death of 54-year-old Wayne Earl Ellis
of West Monroe, La. A jury convicted Jung of murder in September.
Jung, who did not testify at his trial, maintained his innocence
when he appeared at sentencing.
Another former Lincoln police officer, Kenneth Pollard, was
convicted earlier in the 2003 beating death of Ellis and is serving
a 22-year prison sentence.
