Birmingham, AL (WIAT) FEMA sent along the following information about what they are doing in the wake of the President declaring Chilton and Jefferson counties a disaster area:
- Less than 72 hours after the Presidential Disaster Declaration for Chilton and Jefferson counties:
- $172,000 in FEMA individual assistance funding has been approved for survivors;
- 48 FEMA property inspections have been completed for applicants;
- 86 visits have been made to the five disaster recovery centers;
- SBA has distributed 191 loan application forms to homeowners and 26 loan application forms to businesses. Even if survivors do not qualify for an SBA disaster loan, completing and returning the application may open the door for other forms of assistance.
- People in Jefferson and Chilton Counties who would like to apply for individual assistance from FEMA can call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). People can also consult the website www.DisasterAssistance.gov <http://www.DisasterAssistance.gov> to register for assistance. They can also register on their Web-enabled device or smart phone through the FEMA app or by going to m.FEMA.gov.
