There’s some good news for those out of work. President Obama has signed a new bill into law that will put 24 billion dollars in place to extend unemployment benefits up to an extra 20 weeks. Administration at the Alabama Career Center Birmingham says the new measure will likely benefit those qualifying individuals, but will probably not play a part in reducing their large number of unemployment benefit applicants.
"I think with the high numbers, the high volume that we have already, the people that are qualifying for the extended of the extension of the extension, that these will mostly be the same people,'’ says manager, Yvette Fields.
The bill also contains tax credits aimed at struggling businesses. On a national level, fewer jobs were lost this past month than the previous one.
