BIRMINGHAM, Ala, (WIAT) - It's been almost nine years since Gabe and Tina Thomas Watson went on their honeymoon in Australia.
Monday afternoon, Wade Singleton, the dive master on their diving excursion, told jurors what he saw and did on the day Tina died. Singleton says he first noticed Tina laying motionless on the sand, nearly 100 feet below the surface. And her dive buddy, Gabe Watson, was not in the area.
During his testimony, Singleton recounted his rescue of Tina and the effort to revive her once he got her to the boat. Prosecutors asked him if he saw Gabe during that time he said no. Singleton says Gabe Watson didn't come to the boat Tina was on until after she was pronounced dead 45 minutes after coming to the surface.
Testimony resumes on Tuesday morning.
