There are new developments in the case of a Walker County dog that was reportedly put to sleep before his owner could pick him up.
On top of a neglect lawsuit facing the Walker County Humane Society, now there is a claim against the county itself.

Attorney Brett Wadsworth says his client's AKC registered boxer "Boost" got loose last month, wound up at the shelter, and was put to sleep the same day.
"They put Boost to sleep within 10 minutes of him arriving at the facility," said Brett Wadsworth.
Wadsworth has filed a claim asking the Walker County Commission to provide more funding for the Walker County Humane Society, to keep this type of incident from happening again.
"It's not about money for Marcus. This is about a new facility. We want to see that things are run properly here in the county. We would like to see enough, the ability for our shelter here to care for animals on a 7 day rotation, not just euthanize them when they come in. We want to see them at least wait seven days, the shelter, and make attempts to try and locate the owner," said Brett Wadsworth.
A claim often precedes a lawsuit, but Wadsworth says the county has 90 days to consider their options before a lawsuit could even be filed. He did not mention any plans to file one at this point, but said he and his client will consider their options at that point.
Attempts to reach the attorney for the Walker County Humane Society were unsuccessful. The Walker County Attorney also declined to comment on the new claim.
