CLAY, Ala. (WIAT)- The Clayridge Baptist Church, in Clay, is doing its part to help out, after last weeks tornadoes.
"There was a need, and we're following the example of Jesus, that if you feed them and clothe them, and try and meet their needs, you just follow the holy spirit," says Pastor Ron Hudgens.
From providing hot meals, to giving out everyday items like water, the church says it's all about helping thy neighbor.
"It's more that just coming and sitting in a pew on Sunday mornings, and singing and doing the worship, this right here is love in action."
The Clayridge Baptist Church, isn't the only church stepping up to the plate. Just a few miles down the road, the Bridge Point Church, is also lending a helping hand.
"We see what's happening out there, and everybody feels for them, and know we need to help out," says Alex Davidson.
The Bridge Point Church, has turned it's gymnasium into a distribution center. It has everything from food, to diapers. It's basically a mini grocery store.
"we enjoy helping in anyway that we can, because we know that one day it will definitely be returned to us."
Janice Cook, says without these churches coming together, things would be a lot harder.
"You have to be really thankful for a warm meal and a smile, and the hugs and prayers of people that have come together to help the community," says Janice Cook.
