BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) - You can avoid those long lines at the courthouseto buy a car tag.
A new program in Jefferson County will allow participating dealerships to bring the paperwork to the courthouse.
"We historically have about 30-40 new vehicle registrations each day so obviously with the lines being backed up as far as they are right now currently, this will help alleviate some of that backlog," says Travis Halsey, with the Jefferson County Revenue Department.
Several car dealers within the Birmingham Automobile Dealers Association are already involved in the program. Several more are in the process of joining.
