BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- If you use public transportation in the Birmingham area, you'll spend less time waiting on your bus to arrive if the plan to make bus routes more efficient succeeds.
The Birmingham Jefferson County Transit Authority announced plans to change 10 out of the 30 bus routes that serve the Birmingham area.
The modified routes will allow for wait times of 7.5 minutes during rush hour and fifteen minutes during the rest of the day.
Route 1 will be broken into two. Route 20 will go directly to the airport instead of to Zion City. Service to Centerpoint will go straight down 1st Ave N.
The downtown DART circular will eliminate the southside University route, going straight from the convention center to Vulcan Park.
For more detailed information on the changes, visit the BJCTA website. Changes will go into effect March 26th.
