63-year old Pamela Bayliss has been using Bioidentical Hormone Therapy for 10-years.  But she remembers what it was like to use synthetic hormones.

"10 years ago I was on Premine I felt okay," says Pamela Bayliss.

But okay wasn't good enough for Bayliss, and with the scare of the synthetics causing breast cancer, she began to look for alternatives with Compound Pharmacist Scott Wepfer."

"He did a test and he did the right dosage and I talked to my gynecologist and she agreed,” says Bayliss.

And after only 14-days she noticed a change.

“I am not moody I am not depressed I think they make you feel good I am not scared of them,” says Bayliss.

Compound Pharmacists say the reason Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy works so well is each woman has different needs, and they cater their drugs to the woman’s symptoms.

"We can get away from the one size fits all approach, we can give each woman the exact personalized customized dosage that she needs," says Compound Pharmacist Scott Wepfer.

But what exactly is Bioidentical and how does it differ from synthetics? Wepfer says synthetic drugs are made by scientists in a lab.Like Premarin used to supplement estrogen comes from a pregnant horse’s urine. While Bioidentical Hormones are closer to nature they come from sources, such as yams and soy beans.

"We are giving a hormone that has the same structure of the hormones your body make we expect it to work more naturally in the body," says Wepfer.

But this treatment may not be for everybody, the FDA regulates the chemicals used in Bioidentical Hormones but not the personalized drugs created, since there is no specific recipe for them to test. Also Pharmacists and doctors are not regulated by the FDA... So, before you decide to try Bioidentical Drugs, experts recommend: you find an accredited compounding pharmacist.
