MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) - Despite previously telling defense attorneys they didn't plan to call him to testify again, Senator Scott Beason's name is on a list of potential government witnesses in the state's gambling corruption retrial.
Names of potential defense and government witnesses were read aloud during the first day of jury selection Monday.
Beason, who wore a wire for investigators, was criticized sharply after calling black casino customers "aborigines" in a conversation he mistakenly recorded. He later apologized for the remark.
Several other names came to light Monday, including former Alabama Governor Bob Riley and former Alabama Attorney General Troy King.
