BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) - Bingo operators in Jefferson County are fighting to keep their doors open and their machines on the floor.

Two people were arrested after deputies raided the Robinwood Casino in Tarrant last Thursday.  Forty machines were confiscated and police claim they were illegal slot machines.

Attorneys for Robinwood and two other facilities in the county maintain they are legal because money is being donated to local charities.

Under Alabama law, charitable bingo is allowed in Jefferson County.  The issue here lies in whether the machines used are legal.
