An employee with the Alabama Gas Company was shot during a robbery attempt in the Kingston Community.
Birmingham police say the victim was painting meters on Roscoe Avenue when a gunman held him up.
Investigators say there was a scuffle and the suspect ended up shooting the worker in the abdomen before running off.
CBS 42 did speak with the victim's son, and we're told he's recovering from his injuries.
The gunman is still at large.
