Some former Crimson Tide football greats took advantage of the sunshine in Tuscaloosa Thursday to hit the golf course for a good cause. It was the 9th annual Legends of Bama Golf Classic, which brought out former players Siran Stacy, Barry Krause, and Freddie Roach to name a few.
All of the money raised benefits Big Oak Ranch in northeast Alabama, which was started by another former Bama legend, John Croyle, and serves children who need a place to live, grow and thrive.
"These individual foursomes are paying to play with these celebrities and all the money is going to our scholarship fund for our kids to go to college and in these tough economic times, I'm not going to call the kids back home and say 'sorry we can't handle it,' so we're just really doing a lot more to help them be successful," explains Croyle.
The goal was to raise around $100,000 from the Legends of Bama Golf Classic.
