TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) - Neighbors who pass by a certain home in Tuscaloosa often hear music coming from within. They've been hearing it for over 20 years now and while it may seem like a symphony, it's actually the sound of a local family putting its Faith in Action.
Bill and DuRhonda Lamb of Tuscaloosa have four children, three daughters and a son. They will tell you they are a normal, average family, and they are. A normal average family with one very abnormal talent.
Oldest daughter Karis began taking violin lessons at age five and started a chain reaction that spread to her brother and sisters. It wasn't long till it became obvious that the kids were good enough to play for other people.
Bill worked two jobs to pay for violin lessons and DuRhonda home schooled the kids and started them off entertaining in nursing homes and hospital rooms. As they grew into teenagers, the Lamb family blossomed into exceptional concert musicians, performing at churches and weddings. They have recorded three cd's, they played at Governor Bentley's inauguration and recently went world wide with an appearance on the Trinity Broadcast Network.
All of this is a bit overwhelming for mom and dad, especially considering that because of medical problems, they may never be able to have children.
This extraordinary talent has made it a challenge to live that normal, average life. Things such as dating and social life just have to wait their turn, but still, the kids wouldn't have it any other way.
