MOODY, Ala. (WIAT) - On Sunday morning you'll find Pastor Shawn Machen lifting up his congregation at World Victory Church in Moody, but during the week he does a different sort of lifting up.

Shawn is also a corporate pilot in Birmingham.  He took CBS42's Ken Lass up on a little tour of Birmingham recently and he told him he finds preaching and piloting work together beautifully.

Ss a pastor, Shawn has to come up with engaging sermons every week.  Fortunately, flying gives him an endless supply of analogies and to preacher and pilot, you can add a third profession, author.  Shawn found himself with a lot of down time, waiting for his clients to be done with their business meetings so he used the time to write a book. 

Shawn felt the call to be a preacher early in life.  His church began with seven people in his living room 15 years ago.  Now, World Victory is looking to expand to a 1,200 foot facility.  Some say he has a gift for connecting people with God.  They think it might be because of the unique perspective from which he has observed God's work.
