BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) - Educators at Tuscaloosa's Capitol School are trying to encourage interest in the ever evolving field of technology so, they've got students designing robots. The kids are aged from 12-14 and work in groups to try to come up with introductory designs.
The class, led by University of Alabama professor Monica Anderson, works on the designs once a month. The assignment will last through the remainder of the school year.
If you're interested in seeing robots in action, you should head out to the Riverchase Galleria this weekend. Sunday, from 2-4pm, hundreds of middle and high schoolers from across the state will converge on the mall. The tiny engineers will use the time to display their creations and work out any kinks.
The robots will be put to the test in an upcoming competition set for Saturday, October 6th, at the Bartow Arena.
