SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) - The New York Times headline screamed it out, "After Ruling, Hispanics Flee Alabama Town." In many cases, according to the story, leaving Albertville last Wednesday night just hours after the ruling.
"Marcella" lives in Jefferson County and she agreed to talk with CBS42, provided we conceal her identity. She says it's fear that's driving people away.
That fear is also keeping students away from schools. Marcella says parents are even afraid to take their children to class.
In Shelby County, over 120 students were absent on Monday.
