Pinson Valley student arrested for gun

Birmingham, AL (Jefferson County Sherriff's Office) - On Friday, February 3rd a 15 year old Pinson Valley High School student was arrested
after a gun was found in book bag.

The student forgot the book bag when changing classes and another student turned it in to the school office. The
student came to the office looking for the book bag. He appeared highly anxious and nervous. School administrators
searched the book bag and discovered a loaded semi-automatic pistol inside. The student claimed the book bag as his
own however; he denied any knowledge of the gun. Deputies investigating the incident learned that student had been
seen with gun by others.

The student was placed under arrest for carrying a pistol without a license and transported to
the Jefferson County Youth Detention Facility.
