Tim James is the son of well known former two term Alabama governor Fob James.  Tim received his Finance degree from Auburn University in 1985.  His professional career started off in the construction business.  He would eventually work with his brothers and father in forming the Escambia County Environmental Corporation. 

In 2002 Tim entered Alabama politics in a big way by running for governor of Alabama.  He finished third place in the Republican primary.  Republican Bob Riley would go on to win the governors race in 2002.  Tim says “I was in the wrong place at the wrong time” and is now ready to take the top seat in Alabama politics.

Tim and his wife Angela have been married for over 25 years and live in Greenville, Alabama. They have three children.
