Bradley Byrne was born and raised in Alabama’s “port city,” Mobile. His roots in south Alabama can be traced all the way back to the 1700’s. After attending Military School in his home town of Mobile, he left his home state for Duke University where he received his undergraduate degree. After Duke University, it was home to Alabama to study law. Byrne earned his law degree from the University Of Alabama School Of Law.
After more than 25 years of practicing law in Mobile, Byrn entered the public arena as a candidate for the Alabama State Board of Education. He was elected that same position in 1994, and again in 1998. In 2002 he was the Republican nomination to the State Senate. He represented District 32 and was reelected in 2006. Of recent note, Byrne was appointed as Chancellor of the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education by the Alabama State Board of Education.
Byrne has been married for over 28 years to his wife Rebecca, originally from Montgomery. The Byrns are the parents of four children, two of which are college graduates, one of which is currently in college, and the other still in High School.
Bradley and his family are members of the St. James Episcopal Church in Fairhope.
