The House has passed the Senate health care bill.
In a 219 to 212 vote, the House passed the exact bill that passed the Senate in December. That bill now goes to President Obama's desk for a signature.
The chamber will soon vote on a separate reconciliation measure of fixes to the Senate bill. If it passes, that bill will be taken up later by the Senate.
The vote followed a full day of debate as Democrats argued their way through a thicket of Republican objections toward a late-evening vote on the bill to extend coverage to 32 million Americans who lack it, ban insurers from denying coverage on the basis of pre-existing medical conditions and cut deficits by an estimated $138 billion over a decade.
