Sherri Jackson

Sherri is the weekday Anchor for CBS 42 News at 5 & 10 o'clock. The award winning journalist has received recognition for her work covering AIDS in the city of Birmingham. Her piece “AIDS from Alabama to Africa” received a national award from the National Association of Black Journalists. She’s been named one of The Magic City’s Female Powerhouses, by Who’s Who in Black Birmingham. As a reporter she is dedicated to telling the stories that touch people’s lives in a series of special reports called Faith In Action.
Sherri believes in giving back to the community. That passion is why it is not uncommon to see her in schools, churches, working with women’s groups or children when she is away from the newsroom. Sherri currently sits on the board of Childcare Resources of Birmingham. Previously she served as a board member with the Children’s Aid Society, American Red Cross Blood Services, and the Children’s Literacy Guild. She also is contributor to Birmingham Woman Newspaper.
Sherri is a veteran journalist who came to CBS 42 in 1998. Prior to making her home in Birmingham, she worked for WGXA-TV in Macon, GA, WSAV-TV in Savannah GA, and WSAZ-TV in Charleston and Huntington West Virginia.
Sherri is a graduate of Morehead State University in Morehead, KY. A member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc, Radio Television News Directors Association, National Association of Black Journalists and she serves on the international mission’s team with her church.
Sherri's hobbies include some announcing for her son's little league baseball team, reading, acting, and anything involving the Arts. Sherri is also an enthusiastic JEOPARDY fan, and a beginning triathlete.
