Marlon Price grew up with aspirations of being a spy, whether it was on a national, international or local level. So, he figured if he got his hands on a camera and a microphone, he would be on his way. But eventually, he realized that was just a pipe dream, but eventually, he would get his chance to use a video camera by becoming a television photographer.
Marlon is a graduate of Jacksonville State University, where he received a BA degree in Broadcast Communications in the fall of 1995. From there his first job in TV was at Alabama Public Television as a part-time courier/editor. Within a span of about eight to ten months, opportunity came knocking at the door, presenting him with a chance to be fully employed with the local CBS affiliate in Birmingham, WBMG. He started out in production as a production assistant in 1996. In 1998, he was promoted to the news department as a photog (that’s short for news photographer) in training.
In 2000, he was blessed with another opportunity of becoming a full-time sports photographer with a regional sports network called College Sports Southeast. Marlon was there for a little over 11 months and was fortunate enough to find his way back to CBS 42. That training has certainly paid off. Marlon feels blessed to be at CBS 42. His time there has awarded him great knowledge and experience in the field of news and its many facets. It has also awarded him, along with his colleagues, an Alabama Associated Press Award for “Best Feature” in a newscast.
Marlon is a Birmingham native and a product of the Birmingham City Schools System, a graduate of Jackson-Olin High School. Marlon and his wife, Debbie, have two boys, Andre’ and Mason. When he’s not working, Marlon spends as much time at home with his family educating his two boys preparing them for the future, and playing XBOX from time to time.
