Beverly Tanner
Reporter
Born in the Philippines, raised in Arkansas, moved to Texas, only to migrate to Mississippi, then back to Texas, looping back to Mississippi, before making her way to Alabama...confused yet? Beverly started at CBS 42 in November 2008. This southern gal got her on-air start at WXVT in Greenville, MS. Beverly was hired as a producer/reporter for the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. shows, nabbing an AP award for the best newscast in the state. In a few short months, she moved up to morning anchor/reporter. After gaining much attention from the local viewers, Beverly was profiled in the areas largest newspaper, The Delta Democrat Times. After leaving WXVT, she headed west to anchor the morning and noon shows for KAUZ in Wichita Falls, TX. She quickly turned in her boots and spurs to move back to Mississippi, landing a job as a weekend anchor/reporter for WTVA/WLOV in Tupelo.
Prior to that, Beverly worked at KAIT 8 in Jonesboro, AR, KTVT in Ft. Worth/Dallas, TX and KTHV in Little Rock, AR. Over the years, she’s helped cover stories that made national headlines, such as the school shootings in Jonesboro, AR, the opening of the Clinton Library in Little Rock, AR, as well as Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Beverly graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She’s a proud member of the Church of Christ, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., National Association of Black Journalists, as well as the Asian American Journalists Association. She’s an advocate against domestic abuse and volunteers her time to help increase awareness whenever possible. She enjoys spending time with her husband and three boys...and although it can get a little rowdy, with all that testosterone floating under one roof, she says she wouldn’t have it any other way.
