Despite the state having one of the lowest foreclosure rates in the nation, studies show foreclosure filings for the state of Alabama have increased exponentially.
In a report released Thursday, there were 863 property filings within a month, which raised nearly 11.5% from June and a massive 73% from July 2007.
Sources say the trend will continue to climb as sub-prime mortgage rates struggle to reset for the second half of the year. Despite the massive jump, Alabama continues to rank fairly low in foreclosures.
Nationwide foreclosure filings have risen 8% the previous month, and 55% from July 2007.
