Some mid-sized cars are getting safer. An insurance industry report finds the 2008 Kia Optima got the top score in front-end crash tests. And the second-highest score in side-impact crash tests.
Other top scoring cars are the 2008 Chevy Malibu, Saturn Aura, Dodge Avenger, Nissan Altima, Infiniti G-35 and Mitsubishi Galant.
The report credits air bags and better design for the improved safety.
