Mike McClanahan Reporter An Alabama native, Mike graduated from the University of Montevallo with a double major in Mass Communications and Spanish. After spending the summer of 2002 studying Castellaño in Spain, Mike worked part-time as a translator/interpreter until beginning his television career at WB21-WTTO in Birmingham in January of 2004. At WB21 Mike worked as a weekend director, editor-photographer, and on-air reporter and in October of 2005 he took a reporter/videographer position with CBS 42. He has covered several high profile stories including the 2005 disappearance of Mountain Brook teen Natalee Holloway and the death of former President Gerald Ford. Since arriving at CBS 42, Mike has produced in-depth investigative news pieces highlighting the state prison overpopulation crisis and the Alabama Sentencing Commission’s plan to overhaul the state’s criminal justice system. He routinely covers state and local politics and has interviewed 2008 presidential hopefuls Senator John McCain of Arizona and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. In his free time Mike does volunteer work for Meals-On-Wheels and area schools and is an avid outdoor enthusiast. Email Mike |
