 David Sawyer
Meteorologist
David Sawyer joined CBS 42 as Meteorologist on August 23, 2004. Prior to that, David served 14 years as a meteorologist at WNCT-TV in Greenville, NC. David is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina.
He received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1988 and a Master's Degree from East Carolina University in 1990. David returned to the college setting in 1994 by attending North Carolina State University to pursue a degree in Meteorology.
As a Certified Meteorologist, David holds the prestigious Television Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society David looks forward to serving the viewers in central Alabama every day as a meteorologist. He hopes the years of forecasting and experience with all types of severe weather, including seven hurricanes, will benefit everyone in the CBS 42 viewing area as they plan outdoor activities.
With ten years of additional experience as a teacher of chemistry and physics, David also looks forward to visiting local schools to share his knowledge of weather and other science related topics. David and his wife, Kathy, were married in 1989 and have five children. As a family, the Sawyers enjoy camping, water sports and traveling.
